There wasn't much coverage in the press, and I am too far away to have attended. I actually knew Anthony when we both were teenagers. This is not something I would have ever expected to see. I know a lot of people thought I was just jumping on the accusations of someone I knew nothing about, but I struggled with whether or not the charges could be true. I know I didn't even have to write about this story, but I was compelled by my own disappointment and regret. I wrote my first post still in anger and shock. Anthony Benham was someone I once admired. However, my work as an amateur researcher and blogger, not to mention my own life experience, has shown me that this type of crime and the perpetrators of such crimes often present a different face to the public. I could see Benham confessing, as the articles claim he did. I could see this --not that I thought he would be capable of such acts, but knowing him as I did. It is hard for me to explain how or why.

I also think it is important to note that Anthony's wife divorced him after the charges came out, which I think is contrary to his leaving her. Sending him to prison wouldn't exactly prevent his leaving, either. If the girl seems "screwed up," that could be explained by her experience in such an unnatural relationship. That has to have affected her psychologically. I'm sure the confusion she must be feeling will be hard to overcome.

It is hard for me to believe that a man's own daughter would stick with such a devastating accusation that not only affects Anthony, but herself as well. I even pulled my original post until the trial concluded, (I even had Google remove the article from their cache) hoping to find that either the court would find the charges unfounded, or that the girl would "confess" to this being a false accusation. Neither of these things happened. As hard as it is to accept, Anthony Benham is a child molester, not just in my opinion, but according to the state of Oklahoma.

I'm sorry I don't have more information. You may have already seen the links below:

I have another post, here: http://crimeshadowsnews.com...

There are other links from the local paper, here:

http://www.poteaudailynews....

http://www.poteaudailynews....

http://www.poteaudailynews....

Re: If There is a Hell…

Hello. I am trying to get information about this case because I am somewhat affiliated with a family indirectly involved. In asking about the circumstances surrounding the case, I was told that the little girl was making it up and that "you can see she is all screwed up." AND...that the girl was upset about the father leaving the mother and this is what prompted her to "make up" these allegations. Having no other knowledge of the case than a few scattered articles here and there about the case on the internet and what I was told by a family member who is supporting the father, I CAN NOT believe the girl would make up a story like this and follow it all the way through to trial if it were not true. Reading what you posted here, I agree---who would say something like that if the story was made up?

Do you have any other specific incidents about the trial? I want to have my facts straight before I argue my point. I do not live in Oklahoma so I am having difficulty getting the information.

thanks so much for your help.
