A great many of us gave Dennis the benefit of the doubt when he started making his claims years ago. Many viewed his information with an open mind. The problem is, when they looked deeper at his claims and evidence, the story started to fall apart. Add to that Dennis' continuous attempts to profit from the case by selling evidence, selling his story to anyone who would listen, selling DVDs, selling books that may or may not actually exist, etc. Couple that with what we know about his character and criminal history away from the Zodiac case, and it becomes increasingly harder to view anything he says with an open mind. Did I mention the fly-by-night document examiner that he has retained on the case? The "expert" whose only qualification is being a student of the school of handwriting that produced such glorious conclusions as John Mark Karr wrote the JonBenet Ramsey ransom note. The "expert" who has linked Jack Tarrance handwriting to every unsolved (and some solved) serial crimes of the last 60+ years. Did I mention the numerous falsehoods dealing with the photographic evidence and the professor who claims expertise in photo interpretation, who also just happens to have purchased the rights to Dennis' story? I don't have any particular axe to grind with Dennis, I just have a good sense of smell and know which end of the bull his story is coming from. I think anyone who airs the Jack Tarrance story, has not vetted the information very well, since most of his "evidence" has been neatly refuted on many occasions by folks interested in the Zodiac case.

AS some of you are aware, I have taped a show on the ZODIAC for TRUE CRIME which will be airing on the ID network on April 8th, 2010. I ask, sincerely, that those of you who are experts in the case, please try to keep an open mind to the claims that Dennis Kaufman will make to me. I realize there are many who are skeptical of DK, and I am not suggesting that he has solved the Zodiac case. In fact, because the SFPD only has a partial DNA sample of the Zodiac available, I feel this case will never be conclusively resolved -- ever. Still, with that in mind, I believe DK presents a more compelling case than anyone has given him credit for. I would appreciate your feedback and reviews after you have seen the show on April 8th. I am always open to other theories and alternate forms of proof. As a person who has devoted my life to True Crime, I have one important thing in common with everyone on this site: I want to see this murder mystery solved and give some peace to the victims' families who live with this horror every day.

I have done an episode about the Zodiac for my show TRUE CRIME, airing on ID on April 8, 2010. In it, I record Dennis Kaufman's allegations about Jack Tarrance, and hope to allow the audience to make their own diagnosis about the veracity of DK's statements. I realize that so many armchair detectives have become obsessed with the idea of solving the Zodiac murders. I also realize that, because the SFPD only has a partial DNA sample available of the Zodiac, this case will probably never be conclusively solved. All I ask of those "in the know" about the Zodiac suspects and various claims being made, is to keep an open mind to the True Crime show that is about to air - - and please send me your feedback - - as it will mean the world to me to hear directly from people who can see the pros and cons of the case Kaufman makes. I hope it is understood that I am not giving Dennis Kaufman any entitlements as positively found the "solution" to the Zodiac case. The reason I say this is that I followed some links on here, and he sounds as if he has a very odd fantasy going on. Threatening people, trying to impress people as a "high ranking Satanist" LOL and I just find he has some characteristics that are a bit scary. Living his fantasies vicariously through someone else.... Just a gut feeling. He REALLY seems to want to attach himself to this in an intimate way...why? I don't think it's just money.....it goes deeper. He is crazy. Also he seems to want to affiliate himself with the police (he even tries to say the cops are satanists)...just like him haha!)

If this does turn out to be bogus (which most likely it will), I would be curious to find out how he came to possess the "murder pics"....who really took them? Could he himself be some sort of sicko? If it is bogus what he is saying about his step dad.....maybe HE should be checked.....not as the zodiac (of course), but maybe something about him? It's a strange world and stranger things have happened? Maybe getting attention indirectly? Has he been checked out himself? Maybe it's a sick game of his own....

Dennis Kuafman has said that it is a pic of Noel Shaw still says he does not know him and the pic was in Jacks box of film. I wounder how he knows its Noel since he doesnt know Noel strange ID. I know FBI friend told him Woops prob... they dont have pics... I know magic. Lets see him get out of this one

Well the good news is the FBI does not believe Dennis either that was another lie. I just spoke to the agent and all Dennis has is circumstantial evidence huh what a crock I believe its fabricated evidence. Dennis needs to be stopped and I'm told there is nothing I can do. I have to relive this nightmare so Dennis can have his satisfaction. What a horrible life Dennis lives to have to be so angry with the life he chose that he expects everyone else to have to be just as miserable. The best advise he needs is to get a real job and leave his family out of his caios we don't want to take anymore of his BS. We are fed up with his threats when he doesn't get his way, and most of all we are fed up with is bullying and hurtful things he does to us.

Thank You crime shadows for your sincerity. dennis unfortunetly probably won't stop. he seriously thinks he has his butt covered, and deep down I believe he honestly believes his lies. he has hurt me and my other sister and all he wants is money and a spot in a movie cause he knows nothing of a real JOB. As far as Kris Pickel she is a chump and I have emailed her she doesn't appoligize one time in her e-mails back. Dennis lied from day one he attended his biological father's funeral in sept. 2002.

thank u crimeshadows Kris Pickel is a chump and she should not be a reporter. any good reporters know Good Stories Do not just fall in their laps. If she would have investigated she would have caugh t dennis's lies from the beginning. He was born in Michigan and lived with his real father at some point in his life and if Jack was the only father dennis knew then why did dennis fly to michigan September 2002 and bury his real father. She got what she thought was a story and ran with it with no investigation.

I am sorry that Noel has been exploited in this manner and that you and your family have to suffer at the expense of this fraud. I really had no idea that Dennis would sink to this level. I only knew that he has built his story from exaggerations and coincidence. Now it looks as if his story has been bolstered with fabrication and outright lies. Hopefully, Dennis will stop this charade soon and put this long, embarrassing episode to rest.

I encourage Kris Pickel at CBS13 to investigate this and report on it with as much vigor as she has put into spreading Dennis's phony story. However, I doubt very much that will happen. It's hard to admit when you've been a chump.

Yes dennis is a kook He unfortunetly is my brother and he obviously don't care who he hurts while trying to make a buck I have been trying to contact these FBI agents but nobody will return my calls. Kris Pickel has emailed me but has yet to call this is destroying me and nobody will listen to the truth yet everyone will listen to dennis who does not even work for a living.

Its extremly upsetting to me to see this being thrown in my face as if it were yesterday that Noel was taken from me. how my brother can do this and actually having cbs plaster this picture without investigating first is horrifing. what dennis or anyone even understands is the pain that I buried for so many years has to effect me all over again this is insain and I can't bare the thought all these people actually believe dennis. Noel was not only my boyfriend at the time of his death but my daughters father. This is awful and I have the actual pictures that I will not post because it isn't pretty and I refuse to let the chance my daughter could see these to even be out here.

I am dennis's Brother -in law and I can tell you right now Jack Tarrance in no way could be the zodiac but he was a mean son of a bitch.The pics Dennis put on the news back in April were of his sisters boyfriend that died in Mich. from a fall from a railroad bridge some 30 or 40 feet/ His name is Noel Shaw he died in 96. Just one more lie Mr. Kuafman has said.

Also according to Perez, her father was John F. Kennedy. The press release was promoted by her Hollywood publicist. Perez has a documentary in the works. Just because the press follows a story, doesn't make it credible. It wasn't too long ago a press release was announcing a real Bigfoot corpse. It turned out to be a gorilla costume and some roadkill. Perez and Kaufman are very much alike. They both have a bogus story to tell.

The lastest news daughter of the Zodiac Deborah Perez , she has recved wolrd wide news, the attention to her story has benn taken by storm from reporter around the world unlike Dennis Kaufman, her story has prompted SFPD to open the case after being closed fror so many yrs, have you talked to her have you herad her story , the OC register news paper investogating Mike Mello tells her story and several other national news papers continue to follow up with indept acticles. her facts and time lines of the places her father lived during his life and visited seem to fit with the time line of the murders, there seems to be more to her story than what meets the eye. unlike Denise Kaufman and Voit shes not selling DVDs,$9.99 books, or web site memberships . Deborah Perez contiues to provide information that is not made public relating to the crime scenes which has caught the ears of investagative reporters and LE. unlike Denise Kaufmans as Miss Perez states Let LE do there job and follow the facts and the evidence. in the OC register 5-6-09 Deborah said this was the right thing to do. I wanted to get the truth out..Im not here for the lime light Nobody would want this lime light. i LOST MY FATHER MY CHILDHOOD AND NOW iVE LOST MY LIFE i KNOW. there is something to here story.

I just recently got interested in the case myself. Being a born and raised San Fransican and growing up in the 80's I heard a lot of talk about the Zodiac. Over the years, I've passingly read much of what has been written about the case, mostly because i remember things my mother told me as I was growing up in San Francisco. I like your website and your neutrality. I do agree that Mr. Kaufman's story is fishy and seems to have other motives. I'm glad I'm not alone, and clearly the FBI is taking all this with a grain of salt too. I only recenly saw the news about Kaufman and didn't know until I looked at your site that he has been making these claims for years now. I do have to disagree with you and say that, after reading Robert Graysmith's books twice, looking at the evidence and the case, I believe that Arthur Leigh Allen and an accomplice did the deeds. But I am not even an ameteur investigator. Just a person interested in the case and my local history giving an opinion.

Just a quick comment. I moved to the bay area in Nov 69. The z was news then. I saw the hit on fox news re: Jack Tarrance a few weeks ago and have wasted lots of time reading the different blogs. This is the most neutral website I've seen in my opinion on the Z, so I have the following question. The SFPD picked up latent prints on some of the crime scenes according to what I've read. Mr. Tarrance was arrested in 71 & 74. Where is the comparison to these prints. nuff said
